ControlAP Main Console:

• Running ControlAP: The main events console:
  
  
  
  
  
  
• This window consists of a menu, basic windows controls n the upper right, a status display, the main Start/Stop button and a text area that is the man event console displaying information detailing all events occurring when ControlAP is running, this text scrolls up.
  
  
  At this point you can start ControlAP by pressing the Start button or first check Settings to review network settings as well as make sure that you are online and your network is ready to run. This message will only occur the first time you run since the Auto Start option is on for subsequent runs. This means that ControlAP will begin to run as soon as you execute the ControlAP running unless you choose not to from Settings. Correcting network settings is covered in Settings.
  
  
• The View Menu:
  
  
• From the menu, selecting view will allow you to toggle between two views in the text area: The Events Console and the UsersLlist. The Users list is a real-time list of current users accessing your Access Point.
  Each user entry in the list will consist of an IP address, time last accessed and the last url visited.
  
  
• The Events Console (as shown) is the default view and will continue scrolling as more events occur. Events such as starting and stopping the ControlAP server and user events such as IP address requests and IP assignments from ControlAP's DHCP server as well as URLs visited. All events are time stamped. Note that events are not infinitely scrolled, so you may wish to log all events to file for a permanent record (logging option is selected from Settings).
  
  
• The Users List is shown when one selects "Show Users". this list does not scroll up and displays all the current users as well as what the last URL visited and a time stamp as to when this occurred.  As users leave or timeout they are removed from the list.
  
  
• The Clear Screen option will clear the events console only.
  
  
• Help Menu:
  
  
  • The current version of ControlAP can be accessed via the "About" help menu item and help from the "Online Help" item.
  
  
• Minimizing, Maximizing and Closing ControlAP:
  
  
  • The title bar's standard windows controls work as expected depending on the platform except for the Windows platform. In Windows, ControlAP will appear n the tray. Thus minimizing will minimize only to the tray. Also note that when using Auto Start, the main window will not be displayed until you click on the tray applet. Also, closing the window (in Windows) will not exit the application but simply minimize it to the tray.
   
  
  
  
• To exit ControlAP in Windows,  right click on the tray applet and select "Exit". For all other platforms, closing the main window will exit ControlAP.
