Stop
/ Start Button: will stop and start ControlAP (web admin still
available when stopped)
Demo
Mode: enables ability to run a demo of ControlAP without network
adapters, using a local browser set to web proxy at localhost port 80,
to demo a client getting redirected.
Enable
Portal/Welcome Page: This will enable or disable the captive portal
(normally should always be on)
Pay
at Counter: enables the Pay at the Counter mode of operation that
allows users to enter name to login but to renew must approach counter
where a manager can renew session with Users List below or the manager
admin (limited web admin).
Initial Default Time
Limit: The default limit (0 means no limit)
Logging:
enabled file logging.
Auto Start: to start ControlAP
(same as pressing Start button) when launching ControlAP (always the
case with AP edition)
AP Domain Name: a domain
name to give this local wifi gateway (AP adapter IP)
Title,
Welcome Message, Image, Button: allows customizing the login page.
Redirect
URL: URL to redirect to instead of using a local access spash
page. Remote Login: if a form on the remote login is used to login
locally at the gateway (form points to gateway for authentication -
this is not the same as remote authentication as set in the Advanced
section).
Administrator Remote Access IP(s): Port:
New Password,
sets allowed IPs to access this admin (comma delimited if more than one
or '*' (without quotes) to allow all. Port for this web admin and to
change admin password (default is admin).
Manager
Remote Access IP(s): Password: like the admin, but for the manager:
/manager or the short from: /manager2
AP Adapter:
AP Adapter IP: Internet Adapter: Internet Adapter IP:
specify adapter IPs and adapter names
Users List

Refresh button will refresh the list.
This
list will display currently logged in users and allow you to force a
user to logout, or change the remaining session time. When used with
Pay at Counter mode of operation, will additionally show users in red
when their sessions have expired allowing you to renew sessions.
Custom

Primarily used to customize login pages when using the Pay at the
Counter mode of operation.
Default
Web Page Message is for customizing the default page shown when a user
goes directly to the gateway address or domain name.
Also
user list presets (different amounts to add to renew session) can be
customized here.
Advanced

DHCP:
Specify DHCP range and optionally lease time.
Guest
User/Password: For globally allowed shared account.
Allowed
Sites: web sites to allow access to without logging in first.
Allowed
IPs: IP addresses of cliemts (or APs) to allow access to (not
recommended except in cases where you need remote access to APs)
User
Notifictation: Allows to run a custom program when a user connects to
the hotspot. A built-in command is to send email specified as: email
[server] [from] [to] [message] with the special tag of %info to add
client info to message.
Scheduled Downtime: Time
period to
specify when hotspot should be off. Even if you are a 24/7 hotspot,
this is recommeded (e.g. 5 min) for the AP edition to restart ControlAP
daily.
Current Date & Time, Time Offset:
This is to verify that you have the correct Time Zone, otherwise add
offset if necessary.
Ad URL and Ad frequency (min):
Allow you to periodically forcibly redirect client browsers to a
specific URL.
Cache:
Used only when there's no Internet access, allows you to use a cached
copy of popular sites in the web folder. These sites are specified as
folder names e.g. /web/www.cnn.com/index.html
Syslog:
specify an syslog server (and :port if not standard) for external
logging.
Logd Port: specify a
tcp port to start telnet log server, useful for
remote viewing of logs via telnet client (must connect vi a ssh
tunnel). No restart is needed, entering a port will start server (or
restart if changing ports)
Remote
Control: specifies udp port to send control messages when using a third
party controller.
NAT: enables NAT (network
address translation). Normally this should always be enabled.
Web
Authentication Server URL: URL of external server for remote
authentication.
Web
Authentication Server - Login Check URL: Second URL used to
check
if a user is logged in. Required as part of ControlAP SSL redirection
protocol used with ControlAP Pro.
Hotspot ID:
Unique hotspot 5 digit number.
Merchant URL: URL
of merchant used with ControlAP Pro.
Radius Authentication and Accounting Servers: Primary and secondary
(fail over) server IP or domain names (and :port if not standard).
Radius
Shared Secret: shared secret for authentication servers.
Radius
Auth Type: Radius authentication type, currently support are the pap
and chap types.
NAS ip address: Network Access
Server IP to send to Radius servers.
Challenge:
used depending on authentication type.
Local Accounts

Used to Add, Delete, Edit local user accounts as well as to generate
daily local access codes to print.
Filters

Entries to allow or deny access to users by MAC addresses. To
allow for auto-login, add an asterisk in front of MAC addresss. All
entries can be comma or new line delimited: *00ad287901f2,*0109745a00d3
Ports
to block (drop) can be specified (e.g. to block access to peer to peer
ports). On Linux platforms (AP edition), you can specify a range with a
colon, e.g. 6881:6889
